A new property management company out of Bergen County, New Jersey, is betting that suburban homeowners need the same thing apartment dwellers have always had: a building super. Except this time, it’s for single-family homes.
Gotta Guy NJ LLC crossed 6-figures in billable services during its first year, reaching its membership quota entirely through word-of-mouth referrals. The company was founded by two professionals with backgrounds in development and contracting who noticed a pattern in the endless calls they received from homeowners: people were overwhelmed, time-poor, and often learning expensive lessons about home maintenance the hard way.
The pitch is straightforward. For an annual membership fee, homeowners get access to property management services that handle everything from routine maintenance to coordinating major projects. The company promises “one call to handle all,” positioning itself as the single point of contact between homeowners and the chaos of maintaining a property.
The Case for Home Management
The founders identified real pressure points. Housing prices continue climbing while the pool of skilled tradespeople is shrinking. Meanwhile, private equity-backed consolidation is squeezing out reliable local contractors, and rising labor costs are making even basic repairs feel prohibitively expensive. Add in the fact that younger homeowners—millennials and Gen Z—report low confidence in tackling home repairs themselves, with 70% abandoning DIY projects midstream.
The result? Homes, often the largest investment families make, aren’t being properly maintained. GottaGuy points out that repairs can cost 5 to 30 times more than preventative maintenance, yet most people don’t have the time, tools, or knowledge to stay on top of upkeep.
The company built its model around membership tiers designed to pay for themselves. Each plan includes maintenance tasks, service call hours, and other deliverables that members would need anyway. In one case, the company reported saving a member $42,000 over twelve months through routine maintenance and access to its vetted contractor network.
More Than Just Scheduling
Beyond coordinating repairs, GottaGuy offers what it calls “homeownership literacy”—translating complex service needs into plain language so members understand what’s happening and why. The company also provides a “Price Audit” feature, using its industry data to verify that any contractor quotes are reasonable for the region.

The target market spans first-time buyers, elderly homeowners aging in place, snowbirds, and even residential landlords—essentially anyone who owns property but lacks the bandwidth to manage it properly. The company handles everything from seasonal reminders and troubleshooting to on-site project supervision, promising members they can offload the headache entirely.
GottaGuy is now working to expand into new markets and develop additional home management solutions. The concept challenges an assumption baked into suburban homeownership: that a sprawling single-family house shouldn’t come with the same support system as a 450-square-foot apartment. If the first-year numbers are any indication, plenty of homeowners are ready to rethink that idea.
