Linda Washington has transformed her breast cancer battle into a mission of empowerment, developing resources to help survivors reclaim their identities beyond their diagnosis.
The Springfield, Massachusetts native’s journey took an unexpected turn when she received her breast cancer diagnosis. “At first, I felt the shock and uncertainty that comes with such terrible discoveries,” Washington recounts of that pivotal moment. After surviving the physical battle, she encountered a different kind of struggle – social isolation and stigma that left her feeling, in her words, “broken and belittled.”
These post-recovery challenges sparked Washington’s determination to ensure other survivors wouldn’t face similar isolation. “I wanted to help other survivors not go through what I did and to show them they were not alone in their fight,” she explains of her motivation behind Strength of Survivors, her multi-faceted support initiative.

The experience awakened Washington’s creative pursuits as well. “I uncovered my passion for music during my fight against breast cancer,” she says. This newfound artistic expression resulted in her single “Forever” featuring Superstar Lamar, which complements her book “Broken Pieces” – both created to resonate with fellow survivors navigating life after cancer.
Washington carries both personal experience and professional knowledge to her advocacy work, having earned a nursing degree despite the challenges of her health journey. Her message to fellow survivors remains consistent: “Cancer was the disease, not them,” encouraging others to maintain their sense of self-worth and remain open to connection.
“I find inspiration in what I have been through—all the good and bad that have been around me, serving as life lessons,” Washington reflects. Her perspective on finding meaning in difficult experiences informs her approach to supporting others.
Her expanding platform now includes “The Linda Washington Show,” a talk show airing Fridays at 1 PM on the Bold Brave TV network. The program addresses the emotional aftermath of cancer treatment, tackling feelings of being “forgotten, overlooked, rejected, broken, exhausted, and scared” that many survivors experience.
Washington’s work has gained recognition in Forbes, GQ, and New York Weekly, bringing greater visibility to survivorship issues often overlooked in cancer narratives that focus primarily on treatment rather than long-term recovery.
Her message to survivors emphasizes community over isolation. Through her website and Instagram presence (@Linlw200357), Washington continues building connections among survivors, reinforcing her core belief that no one facing cancer’s aftermath should feel alone.
“My main goal is to show all survivors that they are not alone out there,” Washington states simply, capturing the essence of her mission to transform individual survival stories into a collective narrative of resilience and mutual support.
