Ecogear has been recognized by Insider Weekly with the Best Carry On Luggage award, acknowledging the brand’s commitment to creating innovative travel gear from sustainable materials at accessible price points.
The travel goods company, founded by industry veteran Jimmy Chen in 2008, focuses on designing products with eco-friendly materials while maintaining competitive pricing. Chen brings nearly three decades of experience working with major global retailers in manufacturing, developing, and selling luggage, backpacks, and travel accessories.
“I want to use my knowledge and experience to provide high quality travel gear, but at a cost well below other brands in the market that I know are overcharging the end consumer,” said Chen, who serves as CEO of Ecogear. “I want to democratize luxury.”
Chen left a successful 27-year partnership and six-figure income to dedicate himself full-time to Ecogear’s sustainable travel products, a brand he initially launched but hadn’t fully developed until now. His extensive travel background includes logging over 2.7 million miles with United Airlines alone, giving him firsthand insight into what travelers need from their luggage.
The company’s mission centers on making quality travel gear accessible to more consumers by eliminating the premium pricing often associated with eco-friendly luggage options.
As a solopreneur, Chen is leveraging his manufacturing expertise and deep understanding of the travel industry to build a brand that challenges the current market dynamics. His goal is to prove that sustainable, well-designed carry on luggage doesn’t need to come with luxury-level price tags.
The Insider Weekly award recognizes Ecogear’s approach to combining environmental responsibility with practical design and value pricing in the competitive travel gear market.
