Smith remembers a touching tradition from his own parenting in the days of his children’s youth: “When my children were very young, we used to go to a large chain restaurant in Sarasota, Florida. That restaurant had a promotion where children could earn their own lunches by reciting The Pledge of Allegiance. My kids gained such confidence and real pride by showing their patriotism and earning their meals! I truly believe that small exercise helped them all on their way to becoming the great leaders they are today!”
