Most professionals can barely remember what they accomplished last month, let alone articulate their full career trajectory when opportunity knocks. A new platform called ViaSkill aims to solve this universal workplace challenge by helping people systematically track their work, extract meaningful skills, and build dynamic portfolios that evolve with their careers.
Founded by engineering leader Grace Cupat, ViaSkill emerged from a pattern she witnessed repeatedly throughout her two-decade career: talented professionals struggling to communicate their value, especially during critical moments like performance reviews or job transitions.
“In order to know where you’re going, you have to know where you are and where you’ve been. ViaSkill helps you connect the dots, own your story, and move forward with clarity,” says Cupat, the company’s founder and CEO.
The platform distinguishes itself from traditional job search tools by focusing on the everyday work that typically goes undocumented. Rather than scrambling to update resumes during career transitions, users can continuously track projects, automatically extract relevant skills through AI analysis, and generate tailored resumes when needed.
Most career tools focus on where you want to go,” Cupat explains. “But real confidence starts by understanding where you’ve already been. We built ViaSkill to help people track their progress, reflect on their growth, and approach every opportunity with clarity. It’s not about lacking talent—it’s about lacking tools that make that talent visible.
The career development platform includes several interconnected features designed to capture and showcase professional growth. The Project Tracker allows users to document their ongoing work, while AI technology identifies and extracts resume-ready skills from these entries. A Dynamic Portfolio Generator transforms this tracked work into professional presentations suitable for sharing with recruiters, mentors, or during performance reviews.
Early users have responded positively to the platform’s approach. “The biggest thing is the Resume AI Summary works better than any of the previous ones I’ve used! It can actually parse jobs, descriptions, and education properly, where larger companies fail at that,” notes H. Kim, a UX designer using the platform.
The platform also includes a behavioral assessment tool called SKILDprint, which provides users with insights into their work style and suggests career paths that align with their strengths. Full Stack Developer Brian B. found the assessment particularly valuable: “The SKILDprint assessment was compact and straightforward, and the insights were surprisingly accurate—it even recommended roles I’ve actually held before. The Project Tracker is also visually appealing, and seeing the skills I gained made me feel so much better about how I’ve been spending my time.”
Co-founder and CTO Michael Mizuno emphasizes that the platform addresses a broader issue than job hunting alone. “We’re not just solving for the job hunter—we’re solving for the career itself. ViaSkill gives people a structured, proactive way to manage their growth over time, rather than scrambling to update a resume only when a new opportunity or crisis hits. Yes, we have an AI resume generator—but it’s just one part of a platform designed to make your entire career visible, not just your job titles.”
The founding team brings complementary expertise to the venture. Alongside Cupat’s engineering and mentorship background, Julia Hendricks has driven enterprise growth through data-led SaaS sales strategies, overseeing over $40 million in revenue and opening scalable channels for customer acquisition and market expansion. Mizuno has led large-scale AI and cloud infrastructure initiatives across regulated industries—including fintech, healthcare, and SaaS—building scalable systems that align technical innovation with business outcomes.
The emotional toll of career uncertainty extends beyond missed opportunities. Co-founder Hendricks observes, “The cost of not having a system like this isn’t just missing a promotion. It’s internal. It’s watching people lose confidence in themselves because they’ve never had the tools to reflect their actual value.”
As workplaces increasingly recognize the importance of continuous skill development and career progression, tools that help professionals document and communicate their growth become essential infrastructure. ViaSkill positions itself at the intersection of this need, combining AI capabilities with human-centered design to address what the founders see as a fundamental gap in how people manage their professional lives.
The platform plans to expand its offerings with an AI Career Companion feature, designed to provide personalized reflections and guidance that evolves alongside users’ careers. This addition would further the company’s mission of making career development a continuous, supported process rather than a sporadic scramble during transitions.
For professionals tired of losing track of their accomplishments or struggling to articulate their value, the emergence of structured career tracking tools represents a shift from reactive to proactive career management. As Cupat puts it, “Everyone deserves a system that remembers what they’ve done—even when they forget.”
