A new documentary featuring psychic Danielle Egnew, who has been named “America’s #1 Psychic” by Ranker, is set to premiere at the MINT Film Festival in Billings, Montana this September. Following the production’s 2019 awarding of the prestigious $50,000 documentary grant from the Montana Department of Commerce, only to endure a COVID-19 production delay, “The Road Angel with Danielle Egnew” will screen on September 19th, 2025 at 4:45pm.
The documentary follows Egnew as she travels to Red Lodge, Montana, attempting to solve the mystery of why her angelic team has brought her there. She searches for clues by investigating spirits in collapsed mine shafts and old buildings, assisting grieving individuals, and interviewing fascinating locals who share sacred ceremonies.
Written, directed and produced by Mary Erickson of Mirror House Media, the documentary takes an unconventional approach by combining supernatural elements with scientific perspectives.
“Mary had previously worked at Universal, and she approached me about doing a show that follows how I help people by working with their angels,” Egnew said. “Mary’s vision for Road Angel was so unique, so authentic, and true to the process of how I actually work with angels and the people they’re trying to help, that I got excited about the show. What our entire crew created around Mary’s vision and what I do every day, to translate for these angelic beings—well, I’m honestly incredibly humbled and really proud of what we accomplished. We got out of the way of the supernatural, and man, did it show up in a beautiful way.”
Erickson, who serves as producer and director, explained her motivation for creating the documentary. “Although I’ve become a bit of a skeptic about popular psychics, when I met Danielle, I experienced a fearless, fascinating human who uses her extraordinary gifts to help a hurting world,” she said. “Her heart longs to give a voice to those who haven’t been heard, and often, not seen. Since Danielle’s a science geek as well as a psychic, and loves a good road trip, I wrote a show — The Road Angel — that takes Danielle into communities to address challenges from an angelic perspective, and invites science to weigh in on the supernatural. Danielle braves the world’s most mysterious places, whether that’s in nature, in architecture, or the human psyche. She’s a badass rock and roll chick with the angels riding shotgun.”
Egnew brings an unusual background to the supernatural field. Before establishing herself as a psychic medium, she gained recognition as the lead singer of 1990s all-female rock band Pope Jane. She has since worked as a professional psychic for 25 years, serving as a vetted volunteer member of the national crime-solving organization Find Me Group and consulting on television productions including The CW’s “Supernatural” and the film “Man of Steel.”

Her approach differs from traditional depictions of angelic communication. Egnew presents angels not as religious figures or cherubic entities, but as “powerful nuclear reactors whose job is to transmute and transform energies.” This perspective, combined with her background in acoustic sciences, forms the foundation of the documentary’s unique approach to exploring supernatural phenomena.
Beyond her work in the film, Egnew has authored two books including “True Tales of the Truly Weird: Real Paranormal Accounts from a Real Psychic,” which reached Amazon’s Top 20 Paranormal Chart upon its debut. She also hosts “The inPsight Show” podcast and recently founded The Rocky Mountain Academy of Energetic Arts, an online school offering courses in supernatural and wellness studies.
The documentary’s premiere at the MINT Film Festival marks the beginning of what Erickson has penned as an ongoing docuseries. Associate Producer Melissa Scianna joins Egnew as co-producer alongside Producer, Writer and Director Erickson in bringing this unique and engaging project to audiences.
The Montana Department of Commerce grant recognition for the documentary highlights the state’s growing support for film productions that showcase local talent and high-concept stories. With its blend of supernatural investigation, personal healing journeys, and road trip adventure, “The Road Angel with Danielle Egnew” represents a new entry in the documentary landscape that aims to bridge the gap between skeptics and believers while addressing real-world challenges through an unconventional lens.
