With all the novelty products that have captured American attention—from Pet Rocks to Chia Pets—a new contender has emerged, and it’s exactly what it claims to be: a… BRICK. Not a metaphorical brick, not a tech gadget shaped like a brick, but an actual, handcrafted brick with googly eyes and a crazy backstory.
BOB THE BRICK is the brainchild of Nick Hetcher… an entertainer, writer, radio personality, and entrepreneur who has spent decades in entertainment creating characters and comedy content. His latest venture transforms construction materials into what he’s billing as “The World’s First Celebrity Brick”—a signed, numbered collectible that comes with a certificate of authenticity, a trading card, an adoption letter, an audiobook called “The Legend of Bob The Brick,” and something mysteriously labeled “Brick Seeds.”
The concept is deliberately absurd. Buyers don’t purchase Bob; rather, they “ADOPT” him. And, in a twist that adds to the comedy, adopters don’t choose their brick—the brick chooses them. Each Bob is hand-designed, sanded, and waxed by Hetcher, who refers to himself as “Uncle Bob” and claims titles including “International Master Brick Artisan” and “Brick Whisperer.” Some Bobs are pristine. Others, according to the website, “look like they lost a fight with a lawn mower.” All adopted Bobs are special and unique.
A Limited-Edition Launch
The initial offering consists of 100 bricks in what’s called the “Founder’s Collection.” Hetcher says that early adopters might see their bricks appreciate in value—though he offers no guarantees. There’s a cap of 10 Bobs per customer, justified with the explanation that “after that, the government starts asking questions and your neighbors assume you’re building a fortress.”
Each comedy collectible brick is handcrafted in the United States, and free shipping is included. The product weighs what you’d expect a brick to weigh, leading to a warning to keep it away from “little kids and idiots.”
From Joke Books to Brick Adoption
Hetcher brings experience from multiple comedy ventures to the project. He’s authored joke books including “The Encyclopedia of Dad Jokes” and “The Coffee Joke Book,” and has worked with stand-up comedians, voiced 5,000+ voice-overs, was a rock jock,, and is currently launching a funny podcast called, “Dad Joke Nation.” Bob The Brick fits into his larger vision of building what he calls an “entertainment ecosystem” that combines comedy characters, content, and commerce.

The target audience includes humor enthusiasts, collectors of quirky memorabilia, and anyone shopping for fun unconventional gifts. Bob is positioned as a conversation starter, doorstop, paperweight, and what Hetcher calls an “emotional support brick.” The novelty gift collection comes with suggested uses that include “sitting quietly on your desk (staring at you, judging you)” and “making conversations with strangers easier.”
Whether Bob The Brick becomes the next Pet Rock phenomenon or remains a footnote in novelty product history remains to be seen. But Hetcher is betting that in a complicated world, sometimes people just want to… Adopt a Brick. You can learn more about this handcrafted brick collectible and see if Bob chooses YOU.
